Are you using Windows 10 on your PC? Or did you upgraded your old Windows operating system to Windows 10? Though Microsoft has improved the Windows 10 startup times, however, there are other ways that can make faster startup your Windows 10.
No matter whatever may be your PC’s origin story there is always another way to make faster. Here I am not talking about just faster, I am talking about lightning speed startup.
So, below find out the steps that will explain how to speed up startup times in Windows 10 that will save your few precious seconds in simple and very easy ways.
1 – Launch Windows 10 Startup Manager
Microsoft has made it simple than ever to access your startup processes in Windows 10. A new Startup Manager tool will give you access to everything that you need to look at your PC’s startup performance.
To launch the Startup Manager, just right click on the Windows Taskbar and then click on Task Manager.
The Task Manager will start automatically and it will open the “Processes” tab. But you have to go to Startup tab, so just click on “Startup” tab.
After clicking on Startup tab, you will see the list of all programs that are currently running and affecting your startup times along with detail information that how much that running program is affecting your startup times (High, Medium, or Low)
Some of the running programs will display as “Not Measured”, it means that Windows does not have enough information about that particular program so that it can analyze its “Startup Impact” (this is the generally the case with new software).
Now, just go through the program from the list and decide if you actually need all of them. Rank or sort the process by “Startup Impact” to sort them from “High to Low”.
If you see that the program which you don’t want and has a “High” startup impact then you can disable those programs. You need to just click on “Disable” button that is located on the lower right corner of the window.
2 – Enable Fast Startup in Windows 10
Windows 10 comes with the feature known as “Fast Startup” that you will find under Power Options. Here, find out how to activate it:
- Go to Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Power Options.
- Now click on Choose what the power buttons does.
- Next, see below “Define Power Buttons and Turn On Password Protection” and click on “Change settings that are currently unavailable” which is displayed in blue color text.
- Then, on next page under Shutdown Settings click on Enable Fast Startup for Windows 10.
- Now select the box beside Turn on Fast Startup and finally click on “Save” button.
You might be thinking that why these setting are not turned on by default? It is because when Fast Startup works it switched off your PC in a half hybrid also known as half shutdown mode. And this makes it simpler to again start up the PC. However, it also uses considerably more battery life when your system gets turned off.
In this case, if you are using the laptop and want a better life of a battery then Fast Startup is not good for your laptop.
However, if you are using a PC and looking for the faster startup then Fast Startup is a good idea.
By applying above two methods, you can actually boost the Windows 10 startup times in easier and simple way than ever.
