- Next, in the winsxs folder, find pending .xml and copy it and paste it in the same folder for keeping the backup.
- Open the original pending .xml (this process will take some time to load, as it is a huge file)
- And press Ctrl + F on the keyboard and search for the following:
- 0000000000000000.cdf-ms
- Delete the following text:
- <Checkpoint/>
- <DeleteFile path=”\SystemRoot\WinSxS\FileMaps\_0000000000000000.cdf-ms”/>
- <MoveFile source=”\SystemRoot\WinSxS\Temp\PendingRenames\e56db1db48d4cb0199440000b01de419._0000000000000000.cdf-ms” destination=”\SystemRoot\WinSxS\FileMa\_0000000000000000.cdf-ms”/>
- And lastly save the file, close the Command Prompt and restart your PC/laptop

Solution 2: Run Windows Update Troubleshooter
You can try to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter in your Windows operating system. This is a built-in tool provided by Microsoft to fix the Windows update related issues.
